NFYN in coordination with Kathmandu Metropolitan city successfully implemented the disaster risk reduction and management project in wards 15, 17 and 27 from the year 2022-2024. During the course of this time the project was focused on strengthening the community and local government through the initiative of building the capable human resources and strengthening the local level to successfully respond the disaster. As KMC is highly vulnerable to earthquake and fire, the project was focused on this two hazards. We produced the human resources as leaders who we call the Technical Advisors and Volunteers. Along with the we took the initiative to make disaster management committee in each working wards and capicated them with the knowledge and resources to combat the the disaster. Along with that the project was also focused on looking after the mental health issues after the disaster through its initiaitive of Mental Health and Psycoscocal support (MHPSS) program. One of our main component of our project was conduct the disaster simulation focusing on earthquake and fire and also capicated this human resources estavlished through the initative of our project to conduct the regular simulation/drill in their respective wards, this regular simulation will help to establish the role of the this leader during the emergency and can effectively response the disaster situation while milimizing the impact caused from it.
On the date 18th June 2025, our talented and capicated Technical Advisors, disaster managenment volunteer, disaster managenment committee established through our project successfully conducted the drill/simulation in KMC ward #27 focusing on the earthquake and fire at Mahabouddha.
